ARTIFACTS: DOGS RULE
Artifacts exemplifies the weaving together of my lifelong interest in archaeology, the recent death of a beloved dog and an opportunity to use “relics” from my life in the 70’s.
Seeing a discarded mono print made by a friend reminded me of an archaeological dig with pottery shards lying on the ground. Frequently “dig” artifacts reveal writing from the culture under study. To this end I devised an alphabet and wrote the name of all my favorite dogs on the various pieces of ‘pottery”.
Personal Challenge- Render the shapes to truly resemble ceramic fragments, the “floor” as dirt, and to use many of my own artifact beads from the 70’s.
